Client Overview

Vernovis is partnering with a well-established, family-owned organization in the transportation, logistics, and moving industry that has built a strong reputation for delivering exceptional service. As the company continues to grow, they are seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee the day-to-day accounting function, strengthen financial processes, and provide accurate financial reporting that supports business decision-making. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who enjoys owning the accounting cycle while partnering with leadership on financial planning and operational initiatives.

What You’ll Do

• Oversee the company’s day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
• Analyze financial results and provide meaningful reporting and variance analysis to support leadership decisions.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and other FP&A initiatives.
• Partner with operational leaders to improve financial visibility, identify trends, and support strategic planning.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax professionals, and other business partners during audits and annual reporting.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
• Provide guidance and support to accounting staff while serving as a technical accounting resource for the team.

What Experience You’ll Have

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with responsibility for general ledger accounting and financial reporting.
• Experience managing the month-end and year-end close process.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
• Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, or FP&A activities.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working within an ERP system.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

What Experience is Nice to Have

• Previous experience as an Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, Assistant Controller, or similar leadership role.
• Experience within transportation, logistics, manufacturing, or other operationally focused industries.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP or a similar ERP platform.
• CPA designation or CPA eligibility is a plus.
• Experience driving process improvements and enhancing accounting controls and reporting.
