Job Title: Associate Accountant (Construction Projects)
Location/ Work Structure: Onsite (potential for hybrid over time)
Compensation: $65-70K

Client Overview:
Are you a recent new Accountant that would like to learn new things and add to your responsibilities? Vernovis is partnering with a very well-established Cincinnati construction firm. We are searching for an Associate Accountant that will be concentrating on construction projects. This role will have a different flavor as more of a project accountant. You will have the opportunity to learn from a more experienced person as you help in their support.

What You'll Do:
- Support the Sr Accountant concentrating on same projects
- Track and analyze project costs
- Collaborate with project managers to monitor, understand the cause of and report on budget variances
- Identify cost-saving opportunities address budget overruns or financial risks
- Assess financial risks associated with projects
- Monthly review of job cost activity
- Monitor job over/underbilling and accounts receivable and accounts payable
- Ensure subcontractor invoices are submitted timely and correctly
- Lead effective communication with vendors and subcontractors to resolve any invoicing discrepancies
What Experience You'll Have:
- Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1+ years of accounting experience
- Proficient Excel skills required
- Understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP).
- Ability to manage change and adapt to changing processes and procedures
- Good relationship builder
- Very proactive yet collaborative disposition
- Strong attention to detail
